摘要: The present work focuses on scaling up bench to pilot-plant scale for a two-stage anaerobic digestion (TSAD) of hydrothermally treated mixed Napier grass and microalgae. The operating conditions were optimized under batch and semi-continuous digesters at laboratory scale. The optimal conditions demonstrated in the batch reactor were a substrateto- inoculum ratio of 6:1 and an initial substrate concentration of 3% w/v (based on volatile solids). The results illustrated that total energy recovery from hydrothermally treated mixture was higher than that without treatment by 36.9%. The optimum hydraulic retention time (HRT) of TSAD was investigated in semi-continuous reactors. The highest H_2 and CH_4 production rates of 0.13 L-H_2/Ld and 63.46 L-CH_4/Ld were achieved at an HRT of 2.6 and 25 days, respectively. The optimal conditions for digester operation were selected for process scale-up to 0.4 and 4.0 m~3 digesters. The pilot-scale TSAD successfully yielded an average biohythane production rate of 2095.8 L-biohythane/d, consisting of 1.9% H_2, 54.2% CH_4, 35.3% CO_2, and 8.6% other gases. These findings show that pilot plant-scale TSAD is a robust platform to fulfill renewable energy demand. However, biogas upgrading technology is one of the most critical needs before being injected into the natural gas network.
