摘要: CO_2 consumption technology to produce biochemicals is essential to international efforts to reduce climate change. This study explores the enhancement of CO_2 conversion in biogas to acetic acid by Clostridium thailandense with granular activated carbon (GAC) supplementation. GAC concentrations between 0 to 20 g/L were used in the experiments with H_2 acting as the electron donor at an H_2 to CO_2 ratio of 2:1 (v/v). The experiments were carried out at 30 and 150 rpm of agitation. Furthermore, the genome of C. thailandense was annotated using Rapid Annotations using Subsystems Technology (RAST) to discover genes involved in converting CO_2 to acetic acid. Results revealed that 7.5 g/L GAC significantly increased CH4 content (93.3%), CO_2 (88.3%), and H_2 (98.7%) consumption efficiencies, with 0.90 g/L acetic acid production. Utilizing RAST, the study identified hydrogenase genes and NADH-dependent ferredoxin-NADP~+ oxidoreductase (Nfn) as pivotal for heightened H_2 consumption efficiencies and cell growth due to GAC, enhancing CO_2 conversion in biogas-to-acetic acid in C. thailandense. This research offers crucial insights for optimizing sustainable CO_2 conversion in biogas-to-acetic acid through the strategic use of GAC and understanding the role of hydrogenase genes and Nfn.
