摘要: Sugarcane leaves, constituting 40% of the waste generated from extensive sugarcane cultivation, pose a significant challenge in agricultural waste management. Utilizing sugarcane leaves as a feedstock for methane production is considered an approach to addressing waste issues while promoting sustainable bioenergy production. This study investigates the impact of the pre-hydrolysis of sugarcane leaves on the methane production potential, comparing prehydrolyzed leaves with untreated and bioaugmented leaves. Sugarcane leaves were pre-hydrolyzed using lignocellulosedegrading bacteria. The effects of different initial substrate concentrations of 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 g-volatile solids (VS)/L were studied. An optimal initial substrate concentration of 40 g-VS/L maximizes total chemical oxygen demand (12.16 ± 0.04 g/L), total volatile fatty acids (4.01 ± 0.39 g/L), and reducing sugar (0.78 ± 0.00 g/L). Pre-hydrolyzed leaves were used to produce methane by batch fermentation, compared to methane production from untreated and bioaugmented leaves. The results showed that pre-hydrolyzed leaves gave the highest methane yield (199.3 ± 7.0 mL-CH_4/g-VS) and production rate (14.0 ± 0.5 mL-CH_4/L·d). Specifically, the production rate of pre-hydrolyzed leaves surpassed that of untreated and bioaugmented leaves by 1.67 and 1.47 times, respectively.
