摘要: Like other types of plants, grasses live an unpredictable future and cannot move even if facing serious environmental stresses. Excellent structures and mechanisms have been developed to cope with these stresses in grasses. Roots and stomata function differently in grass due to unavoidable environmental stimuli, i. e. water deficit. When grass faces a water deficit, signals will be generated in the root system in spite of the enhanced absorption a-bility of water and nutrients. These signals will be translocated upward into the leaf and then stomatal movement is regulated. Water loss through leaf transpiration is restricted, attenuating the effects of water stress. This signal transduction cascade plays a role in grass response to water deficiency as well as to other environmental stresses. The grass plant integrates all the signals to defend possible injury from drought.
