摘要: Reed canary grass and willow are suitable raw materials for CHP-plants and biorefineries. Industrialscale production of these crops already exists in Scandinavia, but production could be expanded. We designed asimple economical model to explore production costs of the crops, which can also be used for sensitive analysis. Theproduction costs of willow were approximately 25% lower than those of reed canary grass. The assumed yield levelsgreatly influenced production costs. The effects of fertiliser price and biomass transport distance on total costs werealso tested. The major obstacles to increasing reed canary grass and willow cultivation seem to be high productioncosts compared with income, uncertainty in price development of inputs and competing crops and low interest amongplant operators in new raw materials.
