摘要: Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) is a member of the genus Luteovirus and can cause significant economic losses to cereals. The luteoviruses are phloem-limited and obligate transmitted by aphids in the circulative/persistent manner. Rochow (1969) identified, characterized and differentiated five distinct isolates of BYDV based on the efficiency of transmission by four aphid species. In China, BYDV is currently divided into four isolates according to the Rochow's system. One isolate (GAV) is transmitted nonspecifically by sitobion avenae and Schizaphis graminum, and has a strong serological reaction with MAV-NY specific antiserum, but the MAV-NY is transmitted specifically by S. avenae. In order to understand the difference between GAV and MAV isolate, we compare the nucleotide sequences of the coat protein (CP) and readthrough protein (RTP) gene of the two isolates.
