摘要: COVID-19 forces all learning processes to be conducted remotely from home. One of the most challenging learning processes is a chemical experiment for chemical engineering students. Students are expected to have a chemical laboratory hands-on experience. Most chemical experiments use virtual methods that eliminate the hands-on experience. To solve the problem, we used household substances and instruments for physics chemistry laboratory activities during remote learning. The utilization of household substances for laboratory chemicals is expected to strengthen the understanding of students that chemistry is everywhere. We used baking soda, vinegar, and cabbage solution as alkaline, acid, and indicator, respectively. The color change by pH was then investigated by its RGB. The difference in color changing between several natural indicators was also investigated. The different types of anthocyanins in the natural indicators influence color change. Students learn how to utilize their household substances as a source of chemicals. Students also learn to identify the molecules in the household substances that reacted and affect the color appearance.
